Pope Benedict XVI

Benedict XVI has been our Pope for four years already following the death of the well-loved John Paul II. We have always looked up to him as someone in authority, someone who seems 'super human'. In celebration of his election, here's some information which we hope you'll find interesting.

ANLUWAGE.COM1. Pope Benedict is the oldest person to be elected Pope since Pope Clement XII (1730-1740).

2. He was elected on 19 April 2005, the feast of St Leo IX, the most important German pope of the Middle Ages known for instituting major reforms during his pontificate.

3. He plays the piano and has a preference for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach.

4. He was born on 16 April 1927 and was baptized on the same day.

5. He is the founder and patron of the Ratzinger Foundation, a charitable institution which makes money from the sale of books and essays written by the Pope in order to fund scholarships and bursaries for poor students across the world.
